We supply and install stone for hotels, malls, offices and retail fit-outs across the UAE, and the brief is never just “make it look luxurious.” Commercial projects add foot-traffic ratings, phased delivery schedules and maintenance contracts to every decision a villa project simply does not face.
Specifying for foot traffic, not just looks
A hotel lobby, mall atrium or office reception floor is walked on by thousands of pairs of shoes a week, many carrying grit and moisture from outside. Softer, more porous stones that perform fine in a villa — some marbles and limestones — wear visibly faster under this level of traffic, developing dull traffic lanes within a year or two without a serious maintenance programme behind them. Denser granite, natural quartzite or sintered stone hold their finish far longer under continuous commercial footfall.
This does not rule marble out of commercial work — it is specified constantly in five-star lobbies — but it does mean the maintenance plan has to be part of the specification conversation from day one, not an afterthought at handover.
Slip resistance and liability
Commercial floors carry a genuine liability exposure that a private home does not. Entrance zones exposed to rain tracked in from outside need a documented slip resistance rating appropriate to a wet pedestrian surface, not just an aesthetic finish choice. We work with consultants to select a finish — typically honed, flamed or lightly textured rather than high polish — that meets the required rating without abandoning the look the design brief calls for.
Phased delivery and site logistics
Commercial fit-outs rarely happen in one continuous phase — a hotel might hand over floor by floor, a mall unit by unit against individual tenant fit-out schedules. This means slab reservations have to be held and colour-matched across a delivery schedule that can run for months, not installed all at once. A supplier with deep local stock can hold matched material against a phased programme; one relying on import-to-order cannot guarantee the later phases match the first.
Reserve the full quantity up front
For any multi-phase commercial project, we recommend reserving and tagging the complete material requirement at project start, even if delivery is staged — it is the only way to guarantee colour consistency from phase one to phase four.
Ongoing maintenance contracts
Hotels, offices and retail operators typically take out an annual maintenance contract covering scheduled deep cleaning, re-sealing and inspection visits — catching a failing seal or an early traffic lane before a guest or tenant ever notices it, rather than reacting to a complaint. This is a standard part of our restoration and maintenance service for commercial clients, and considerably cheaper than a full re-polish once wear becomes visible.
Documentation consultants actually need
- Material data sheets and quarry origin certificates
- Flexural strength and water absorption test results
- Slip resistance (R-rating or pendulum test) certification for the specified finish
- Anchor and fixing calculations for any cladding or feature wall element
- Shop drawings for approval before fabrication begins
We issue this as a single submittal pack and attend technical meetings directly with consultants and main contractors when a system needs to be interrogated before sign-off.
