Marble price in the UAE (2026): cost per square metre by type

What marble actually costs per square metre in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi, from everyday beige tiles to book-matched Statuario, and why two quotes for the “same” marble can be thousands of dirhams apart.

“How much is marble per square metre?” is the first question almost every caller asks us, and the honest answer is a range wide enough to be frustrating: from around AED 120 to well over AED 3,000. This guide breaks the marble price in the UAE down by type, separates material from installation, and explains what moves the number so you can read any quotation with confidence.

Marble price per square metre in the UAE: 2026 table

The figures below are indicative supply-only prices for 18–20 mm material in the UAE market in 2026, based on what we see across our own stock and current trade pricing in Dubai and Sharjah. They exclude VAT, fabrication and installation. Treat them as a starting point for budgeting, not a fixed price list — natural stone is priced slab by slab.

If you are pricing a kitchen worktop rather than a floor, the numbers look different because fabrication, edge profiles and cut-outs are built in. Our kitchen countertop cost guide covers fabricated worktop prices separately.

What you get at each price level

Entry level: AED 120–250 per square metre

This is where most beige Turkish and Indian marbles sit, usually as pre-cut 60×60 cm or 60×120 cm tiles. They are genuine natural marble, hard-wearing enough for residential floors, and the sensible choice when you are covering 300 m² or more. Expect more natural variation between boxes, so ask for tiles from a single production batch.

Mid-range: AED 180–550 per square metre

Crema Marfil, the Emperadors and Bianco Carrara are the backbone of UAE villa interiors. You are paying for better block selection, more consistent colour and the option of full slabs rather than tiles. Most of the villas we fit out sit in this band for the main floor areas, with something more expensive reserved for the entrance and staircase.

Crema Marfil remains one of the most specified marbles in the UAE because it gives a warm, consistent floor at a mid-range price.

Premium: AED 900 to 3,000+ per square metre

Statuario and Calacatta come from a small cluster of quarries around Carrara, and bright white blocks with bold, even veining are genuinely scarce. Prices climb with whiteness, vein quality and slab size, and climb again when you need several slabs cut in sequence for book-matching. We compare the two in detail in Calacatta vs Statuario marble.

Why one “Calacatta” quote is half another

Trade names are not regulated. “Calacatta” can describe a first-choice Italian slab or a lookalike from another country, and grading (first, commercial, second choice) is rarely written on a quote. Always ask for the origin, the grade and photos of the exact slabs being priced.

Installation, polishing and sealing costs

Material is only part of the bill. For floors, budget these indicative installation costs on top of the supply price:

  • Fixing labour and adhesive: roughly AED 45–110 per m², higher for large-format slabs, herringbone or patterned layouts.
  • Screed or levelling: AED 25–60 per m² if the substrate is not ready for stone.
  • Final grinding and polishing: AED 20–45 per m² to remove lippage and give one continuous finish across joints.
  • Sealing: AED 10–25 per m² with a quality impregnating sealer — see our guide to sealing marble in the UAE climate.

As a rule of thumb, a finished, installed marble floor in a UAE villa lands between AED 250 and AED 700 per square metre for mid-range stone, and well above that for Italian whites.

Six things that move a marble quote

  1. Origin and grade. First-choice Italian blocks command a premium over commercial-grade or lookalike material.
  2. Tile vs slab. Full slabs cost more per square metre but allow book-matching and fewer joints.
  3. Thickness. 20 mm is standard for floors; 30 mm adds material cost and weight.
  4. Finish. Polished is standard; honed, brushed or leathered finishes can add a processing charge.
  5. Wastage. Diagonal layouts, borders and rooms with many corners can add 10–20% in cut waste.
  6. Quantity and timing. Reserving a full bundle from stock is cheaper than importing a small quantity to order.

How to save without buying cheap stone

The best-value villas we work on spend money where people look and save where they don’t. Put the premium marble in the entrance, staircase and formal majlis, use a mid-range marble such as Crema Marfil or Emperador for the main living areas, and consider porcelain in service areas. Choosing from slabs already in a UAE warehouse instead of importing to order also removes freight and four to six weeks of waiting.

Frequently asked questions

How much does marble cost per square metre in the UAE?

For supply only, common beige and Turkish marbles start at roughly AED 120–250 per square metre, Spanish Crema Marfil and Emperador sit around AED 180–450, Carrara around AED 250–550, and Statuario or Calacatta slabs run from about AED 900 to well over AED 3,000. Installation, polishing and sealing are extra. These are indicative ranges; your quote depends on the exact slab, quantity and layout.

What is the cheapest marble available in Dubai and Sharjah?

Turkish and Indian beige marbles in standard tile sizes are usually the most affordable, followed by Spanish Crema Marfil and Emperador. They are reliable choices for large floor areas where you want genuine marble without paying for rare veining.

Why is Italian marble so much more expensive?

Statuario and Calacatta come from a small number of quarries in the Carrara region, clean white blocks with bold veining are scarce, and book-matched slabs must be cut in sequence from one block. Rarity, block selection and freight all add to the price.

Does the marble price include installation?

Not usually. Most UAE suppliers quote material per square metre and installation separately. Fixing labour, adhesive, levelling, final polishing and sealing typically add AED 60–180 per square metre depending on format and complexity — always ask for both figures in writing.

Is marble cheaper by the tile or by the slab?

Pre-cut tiles (60×60 cm, 60×120 cm) are cheaper per square metre than full slabs because they use smaller blocks and have less wastage. Full slabs cost more but allow book-matching and fewer joints, which matters on feature walls, staircases and large living areas.
