Trend reports are usually written for American and European kitchens. UAE kitchens are different: they are larger, they often come in pairs (a show kitchen and a working kitchen), they cook with more heat and spice, and they sit under strong daylight. These are the kitchen countertop trends for 2027 we see in the orders that actually come through our fabrication shop.
1. Quartzite becomes the new luxury default
The biggest change in our order book is the rise of natural quartzite. Taj Mahal, Fusion and Mont Blanc give the soft, veined look of marble with hardness closer to granite, so they survive turmeric, lemon and hot pans far better. For clients who love marble but cook every day, quartzite countertops are now our first recommendation.
2. Full-height stone backsplashes
Tiled splashbacks are disappearing from premium kitchens. Instead, the worktop slab continues up the wall to the underside of the wall cabinets, or all the way to the ceiling behind the hob. It removes grout lines, is easier to clean and makes the kitchen feel built rather than assembled. It works best with slabs cut in sequence from the same block so the veining flows from worktop to wall — our book-match design service plans this before cutting.
3. Honed and leathered finishes replace high gloss
High-gloss polish is giving way to honed (smooth matte) and leathered (soft, textured satin) finishes. They feel more natural, hide fingerprints and water marks, and make small etches on marble far less visible. Leathered Absolute Black granite and honed quartzite are two of the most requested combinations this year.
A practical note on matte finishes
Honed and leathered surfaces are slightly more open than polished ones, so sealing matters more. Oil can darken them if left overnight. Seal at installation and again after the first year — see our sealing guide.
4. Darker, warmer stone
The all-white kitchen has had its decade. Clients are moving towards warmer creams and taupes, and towards dark stones such as Nero Marquina, Dark Emperador, Black Galaxy and deep green marbles, often paired with timber or fluted cabinetry. Dark stone also handles the strong UAE daylight better, with less glare than bright white surfaces. See our guide to popular granite colours for the darker options.
5. Bold veining, used once
Clients still want drama, but they are using it more deliberately. A dramatic Calacatta or Arabescato slab goes on the island, while the perimeter worktops use a calmer stone or a plain engineered surface. The result looks curated rather than busy, and the statement slab costs less because you need fewer of them. Our Calacatta vs Statuario guide covers the white marbles most used this way.
6. Waterfall islands and thinner profiles
Waterfall islands, where the worktop folds down one or both sides to the floor, remain the signature of a high-end UAE kitchen. What is changing is thickness: 20 mm and even 12 mm profiles are replacing chunky 40–60 mm built-up edges for a lighter, more architectural look. Sintered stone is popular for ultra-thin designs — compare it in our sintered stone vs quartz guide. Mitred waterfall edges need precise CNC work, which we cut in our own fabrication workshop.
7. The two-kitchen split
Many UAE villas have a show kitchen for guests and a working kitchen for daily cooking. In 2027 we see clients spending properly on both, but differently: natural marble or quartzite in the show kitchen, where it is admired but rarely stressed, and tough granite, quartz or sintered stone in the working kitchen. It is the most practical way to have a marble kitchen without the worry.

Frequently asked questions
What is the most popular kitchen countertop material for 2027?
Natural quartzite is the fastest-growing choice among our UAE clients because it offers a marble look with granite-level hardness. Engineered quartz and sintered stone remain popular for budget control and consistency, while marble stays the first choice for statement islands.
Are white marble kitchens going out of style?
Pure all-white kitchens are giving way to warmer whites, cream and taupe stones, and bolder veining — but white marble with strong character, such as Calacatta, remains firmly in demand.
What countertop finish is trending?
Honed and leathered finishes are replacing high-gloss polish on many kitchen worktops. They feel softer, hide fingerprints and small etches better, and look more contemporary.
Is a full-height stone backsplash worth it?
If the budget allows, yes. Running the worktop slab up the wall removes grout lines, is easier to clean and gives the kitchen a continuous, high-end look. It works best with book-matched slabs from the same block.
